The system has a Guidance Manual which includes objectives and performance levels to help the user with a project assessment.

Overall, the system has 60 sustainability criteria split into 5 categories: Quality of Life, Leadership, Resource Allocation, Natural World, and Climate and Risk. The rating system allocates up to five levels of achievement in each category, with additional points awarded for innovation.
