The main activity of the IPCC is the preparation of reports assessing the state of knowledge of climate change. These include assessment reports, special reports and methodology reports.
The comprehensive Assessment Reports are about the state of scientific, technical and socio-economic knowledge on climate change, its impacts and future risks, and options for reducing the rate at which climate change is taking place. The Special Reports are on topics agreed to by its member governments, as well as Methodology Reports that provide guidelines for the preparation of greenhouse gas inventories.
To support the preparation of its reports, the IPCC organizes scoping meetings, lead author meetings, workshops and expert meetings. It also organizes various outreach events that communicate its findings, methodologies and explains the way the organization works.
Browsers can read about these meetings or watch recordings of them. The IPCC website keeps track of the progress its working groups 1,2,3, and the Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI). Each group assesses and works to address different causes and effects of climate change. For each group, browsers can learn about the organization, its activities, chairs, members, staff, read its reports, and access information for contacting it.
