A New Business Paradigm to Address Climate ChangeThe main idea of this article is that the business paradigm should shift in order to decarbonize the global economy. The shift will require new processes and a shift in mindset throughout the workforce, its suppliers, and its customers. It explains that there would be short-term costs to broadly decarbonizing the global economy, but there would also be new opportunities to create and capture value.

Climate change is a global challenge that requires the contributions of profit-seeking enterprises. Companies’ stakeholders, from consumers and employees to lenders and communities, are increasingly demanding action responding to climate change.

The article guides the leaders of organizations or businesses towards understanding their climate impact and starting to make the changes necessary to reduce their footprint. The article includes figures for leading solutions for reducing atmospheric greenhouse gases. The article states that business communities should take aggressive action on all fronts as soon as possible, rather than starting with small, pilot efforts. Delay reduces the latitude for action in the future.
