RVCA working groups are where the rubber meets the road. They offer a space to spotlight top-priority issues such as energy, water infrastructure, transportation, or job creation.
The RVCA working groups bring together cross-sector stakeholders from across Central and Southwest Virginia, working to address climate resiliency challenges and support efforts to build a regional roadmap and collaboration. All the working groups are focused on capacity building, project development, implementation, community engagement, peer-to-peer exchange, knowledge sharing, and goal setting.
Agriculture: Meets monthly on the last Thursday, 11:00 am to noon. Register to receive the Zoom link.

This working group brings together cross-sector experts from government, the private sector, nonprofits, and academics from across Central and Southwest Virginia’s agriculture and food systems sector. This convening group’s work is focused on how to mitigate and adapt to climate resilience challenges and share best practices and knowledge. This group is currently led by Resilient Virginia staff; we are seeking practitioners in the field to serve as a leader.

This working group brings together cross-sector experts from local and state government, the private sector, nonprofits, and academics from across Central and Southwest Virginia’s transportation world. This covening group’s work is focused on how to mitigate and adapt to climate resiliency challenges and share best practices and knowledge. This group is currently co-led by experts from the transportation world, Alleyn Harned of Virginia Clean Cities and Tracy Garland of TRC.

This working group brings together cross-sector experts from local and state government, business, nonprofits, and academics from across Central and Southwest Virginia’s water sectors. This convening group works to collaborate, develop, and implement strategies to address a variety of challenges around water infrastructure for practitioners in the region, focusing on how to mitigate and adapt to climate resiliency challenges and share best practices and knowledge. This group is currently led by Denise Nelson, a water infrastructure expert and engineering consultant.

On September 25th, a group of cross-sector stakeholders from across central and southwest Virginia met at Sinkland Farms in Christiansburg to discuss shared priorities and goals for the region. We are pulling together all of the notes from the multiple discussions into one document that will be shared with all participants and the Steering Committee. Moving forward, these shared priorities and goals will start to form a regional roadmap to resilience. Stay tuned for updates!
