Hear from Greg Steele, Virginia Chief Resilience Officer

Greg Steele, Virginia’s newly appointed Chief Resilience Officer, will deliver the opening plenary address at the 2025 Resilient Virginia Conference. This marks one of his first major public appearances in his new statewide leadership role.

Mr. Steele will outline his strategic vision for advancing resilience across Virginia, highlighting innovative approaches in areas such as climate adaptation, infrastructure planning, and community preparedness.

He and members of his team will be attending the full conference, engaging with attendees and gaining insights into the resilience work happening across the Commonwealth.

Step Outside the Session: Experience Resilience in Action

We know that sitting in lecture halls all day can be a bit draining—so this year, we’re mixing things up. The 2025 Resilient Virginia Conference will feature opportunities to step outside the sessions and experience resilience in action through hands-on activities and interactive experiences.

Here are just a few of the exciting activities already confirmed:

  • Science on a Sphere – A dynamic, visual exploration of Earth systems

  • Guided tour of JMU’s Tree and Bee Campus – See sustainability in practice

  • Robot Petting Zoo – Discover how robotics programs are preparing the next generation for the workforce

  • Build a Wind Turbine – Get hands-on with clean energy innovation

And that’s just the beginning—more experiences are being added each week, so stay tuned!
