Virginia Governor Ralph Northam to Participate in the 2021 Resilient Virginia Conference

Resilient Virginia is pleased to announce that Virginia Governor Ralph Northam will provide Opening Remarks at our Morning Plenary Session on August 25 (9:00-10:00 AM),  as part of the virtual 2021 Resilient Virginia Conference, taking place August 25-27, 2021.

The conference theme – From Recovery to Resilience: Moving to Vibrant, Healthy, and Equitable Communities – reflects the goal of providing tools that activate community leaders to embark on planning processes that help them address increasing damage from extreme weather events and unpredictable climate patterns. These severe natural events, along with on-going equity, economic, health, environmental and social stressors, have challenged cities and counties around the state and nation, and highlight the need for comprehensive strategies to tackle issues and bounce back from disasters in a manner that also protects our most vulnerable community members..

The 2021 Resilient Virginia Conference will feature national, state and local resiliency policy experts and practitioners. Plenary sessions address federal programs and the national need for infrastructure adaptation, equity as a basis for resiliency planning, the role of states in assisting local government efforts, and the science of climate adaptation. Breakout sessions will focus on progress in Virginia and the region on infrastructure adaptation, rural and urban community case studies in  resiliency planning and action, and economic recovery and resilience. Workshops on August 27 will provide more in-depth coverage of these topics.

New this year – a Green Jobs Fair and Career Forum, organized by our partner organization, Leaders in Energy, will be a source for Clean Economy job leads and inspiration for career seekers.
